Autogas is the common name for liquefied petroleum gas ("LPG") when it is used as a fuel in internal combustion engines in vehicles as well as in stationary applications such as generators.
We are LPG conversion specialists in Leicester and we also cover Nottingham , Nottinghamshire and Derby so when chosing the right company for your LPG specialist conversions in Leicester give LPG IT a call.
Autogas is widely used as a "green" fuel, as it decreases exhaust emissions. In particular, it reduces CO2 emissions by around 15%-20% compared to petrol. One litre of petrol produces 2.3 kg of CO2 when burnt, whereas the equivalent amount of autogas produces only 1.5 kg of CO2 when burnt. Liquefied petroleum gas, also called LPG, GPL, LP Gas, liquid petroleum gas or simply propane, is a flammable mixture of hydrocarbon gases used as a fuel in heating appliances and vehicles. It is increasingly used as an aerosol propellant and a refrigerant, replacing chlorofluorocarbons in an effort to reduce damage to the ozone layer. When specifically used as a vehicle fuel it is often referred to as autogas. |

"Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)" is a natural hydrocarbon fuel ("used for LPG conversions by LPG IT in Leicester") made up of propane. It has the special property of becoming liquid when under pressure, and reverting to gases at atmospheric pressure. This means it can be easily and conveniently stored as a liquid.
About 60% of the world supply of LPG comes from the separation of natural gas products, and 40% is a by-product from the refining of crude oil. In the past, LPG has been considered as waste and flared off; now it is recognised as a major energy source.
